    Day Three

    Receiving the Ultimate Revelation

“But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. For I neither received it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Galatians 1:11–12

Reveal Your word to me. Open my mind and my eyes to perceive the Scriptures as You did for the Apostles. I commit myself to studying Your word diligently today. From this day forward, I will take my studies more seriously and make time for Your word. If I can’t go without breakfast, how can I go without Your bread and milk? ***

It is written, “And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.” Luke 24:45

The Holy Spirit reveals all things. As it is also written, “…‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’ But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” 1 Corinthians 2:9–10 God’s Spirit reveals all things to us. Without Him we cannot have the wisdom of the Father.

Remember that Jesus said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.” John 7:16–17

If it is the Father’s doctrine, then assuredly the Spirit would reveal its meaning to us.

As Jesus also said, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.” John 14:26 ESV

And as it is further written, “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” 1 Corinthians 2:13

So the question, then, becomes this: How have you been educated by God in the word lately? Is He teaching you your doctrine? Or are you relying on men for that? Grow more intimate with the Holy Spirit until you fully discern His voice. Then you will be able to hear Him clearly to learn from Him. For we all must be taught by God.

As we mentioned in an earlier prayer, “It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” John 6:45

So take to heart to be taught by the Lord regarding your doctrine. The Father’s doctrine must be revealed to you by the Spirit, whether by the Spirit speaking through men or by the Spirit speaking to you through the word in your alone time with Him. It is up to you to have the discernment to know whether the Spirit is speaking or not. And if He is speaking, then receive the words you are taught, even if from a man, as if God and not the man were teaching you—because it is the Lord.

Commit yourself from this day forward to grow in the doctrine of God. Do not embrace the doctrines around you, such as a church doctrine, but allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to the truth.

As it is written, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth…” John 16:13 ESV
